In the summer of 2014, a family's life was turned upside down when 62-year-old Raymond "Ray" Locascio vanished from Monroe, New York. On the afternoon of July 8th, the bank courier dropped his wife, Barbara, off and was supposed to head to his job in Peekskill. Tragically, he never arrived at work. The last known contact with Locascio was a brief phone call with his wife at 3:45 p.m. that same day. He was last seen wearing a navy blue polo shirt with a "BeavEx" logo, denim shorts, and tan loafers. He also wears glasses and may have been wearing a black or blue baseball cap. His disappearance was especially heartbreaking as it occurred just months before his daughter's wedding, an event he was excitedly preparing for and had been fitted for a tuxedo for on the very day he went missing. Two days after he was last seen, the light green 2006 Ford Taurus rental car he was driving was discovered abandoned in the Turkey Hill Parking Area in Harriman State Park. The location of the car was perplexing, as it was in the opposite direction of his intended route to work. The vehicle was found locked, with the keys missing, and no signs of Locascio. This discovery prompted extensive searches of the vast state park, but unfortunately, no trace of him was found. His family expressed concern that his health may have been a contributing factor in his disappearance. Locascio is a diabetic and also has heart disease, having had two stents implanted the month prior to his vanishing. His wife mentioned that he had been awake since the early morning hours and had not eaten, which could have led to disorientation. Despite the passage of time, the case of Raymond Locascio remains unsolved. His family has had to endure the anguish of not knowing what happened to their beloved husband and father. While they acknowledged facing financial difficulties, including their home being in foreclosure, they do not believe this was a reason for his disappearance, especially given his excitement for his daughter's wedding. The New York State Police have investigated various possibilities, including foul play, an accident, or suicide, but have not been able to definitively determine the cause of his disappearance. The mysterious circumstances surrounding his last known movements, the discovery of his car in an unexpected location, and the lack of any further contact have left his loved ones and investigators with more questions than answers. The case serves as a somber reminder of how suddenly a person can disappear, leaving a void in the lives of those they left behind.
