In the winter of 1974, a 51-year-old man named Alex Inga, Sr. disappeared from Kodiak, Alaska. He was an American Indian / Alaska Native man with black hair and brown eyes. On December 10, 1974, he was last seen wearing a blue parka, gray pants, and a single hip boot on his right leg. That day, he and his son, Alex Inga Jr., had taken a skiff out into the waters of Amee Bay. It was the last time anyone would report seeing them. The circumstances surrounding their disappearance became clearer, yet more tragic, when their empty skiff was discovered adrift in Amee Bay. The finding of the unoccupied boat suggested that an unfortunate event had occurred. The Alaska State Troopers were notified of the situation on December 11, 1974, and an official report was filed. Despite the efforts of those who may have searched for the father and son, neither Alex Sr. nor his son were ever located. The unforgiving Alaskan environment is believed to have played a role in their disappearance. The case of Alex Inga, Sr. is now considered a suspected accident and a potential drowning. For decades, his case has remained open, a somber reminder of the perils that can be found in the Alaskan wilderness and waters. The official report filed with the Alaska State Troopers and the information logged with the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) serve as the public record of this long-unsolved disappearance. The disappearance of Alex Inga, Sr. and his son is a heartbreaking story of a family outing that ended in tragedy, leaving behind a lasting mystery and sorrow for their loved ones.
