On the day of his disappearance, he was last seen by a friend, mentioning he was headed to Reno, Nevada, to explore a potential job opportunity. Before leaving, Stuart left a note for his landlord, dated the same day, stating that he was going fishing and would return by Monday. However, Stuart never returned, and his landlord reported him missing on September 26 after not seeing him for weeks.
