Beau Rasmussen, a 26-year-old resident of Emeryville, California, went missing on May 19, 2013, after participating in the Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco. Following the 7.46-mile event, Beau parted ways with friends in Golden Gate Park, telling them he planned to visit Ocean Beach. This was the last time anyone saw him. Later that day, some of his personal belongings—including his phone, passport, and credit cards—were discovered near the Beach Chalet Brewery, a location across from the beach. His clothing, except for his underwear, was also found nearby, leading his family to suspect he may have gone swimming in the ocean, known for its dangerous rip currents.

Beau’s disappearance prompted an extensive search by his family and friends, who scoured the coastline, fearing he might have drowned. Although uncharacteristic of him to leave without notice or miss work, his family held a memorial service a month later, believing he tragically succumbed to the ocean's powerful tides. Despite their efforts, Beau has not been located, and his case remains unsolved, with the San Francisco Police Department and Emeryville authorities continuing their investigation.
