On January 16, 2015, a newborn known as Baby Mitin went missing in Okemos, Michigan, under troubling circumstances. The child's mother, Melissa Mitin, was already facing murder charges for the 2013 death of her first baby when she gave birth to a second baby while out on bond. Following the birth, Mitin claimed not to remember where she had left the newborn, raising alarm among authorities.
