Sean Hawley, age 25, was last seen on May 9, 2015, paddling a black inflatable kayak on Lake Champlain near Burlington, Vermont. Witnesses spotted him around 11:00 p.m. in the Oak Ledge Park area, heading toward Plattsburgh, New York. He did not inform anyone about his plans, which prompted family members to report him missing when they couldn’t reach him.
In the days following his disappearance, authorities recovered his kayak and camping gear on Stave Island, located about two miles from where he was last seen. Sean was believed to have spent time on the island, but he has not been seen or heard from since. Despite extensive search efforts, including a Coast Guard operation, no further evidence has been found. Investigators do not suspect foul play, but there are serious concerns about his well-being.
