Tammy Rose Surdam, a 13-year-old girl from St. Charles, Missouri, went missing on August 10, 1979. At the time of her disappearance, Tammy had been staying at the Youth in Need shelter on Jefferson Street, a facility meant to help troubled teens. She had been placed there due to her history of running away and involvement with older peers who engaged in risky behavior such as drinking and drug use.
