Tommi Lee Cooper, a 21-year-old woman from Rescue, California, was last seen on July 31, 1981. That morning, she left her 1 ½-year-old child with a friend, saying she might go to Reno, Nevada, or attend a concert in Oakland after working at her job in Sacramento. Tommi worked at the Sun Club, a massage parlor in Sacramento, but never arrived there, and she never returned to pick up her child. This sudden disappearance was out of character for her.
Her vehicle, a yellow and white 1977 Dodge Aspen, was found abandoned nearly two weeks later on August 13, 1981, at 51st and Woodbine in Sacramento. Inside the car, police discovered a makeup kit on the back seat and money in the glove compartment, but there were no signs of a struggle or any other indication of where Tommi might have gone. Despite a thorough investigation, no further leads were uncovered, and her case remains unsolved.
Tommi was last seen wearing a maroon blouse with a flower attached near the neck and a black wrap-around skirt. She was petite, standing between 5'0" and 5'2" and weighing around 100 pounds. Notably, she had a half-inch scar below her left eye, and her hair was frosted brown at the time of her disappearance. The police investigated several potential leads, but none have brought them closer to understanding what happened to Tommi after that fateful day.
Her case remains open and is being investigated as a missing person case by the Sacramento Police Department. Despite several decades passing, her family and law enforcement continue to seek answers in the hope of solving this enduring mystery.
