In the winter of 1991, a 32-year-old man named Patrick Allen Guild vanished from Nashville, Tennessee. He was last seen on or around December 1st of that year, a man with aspirations of becoming a songwriter who had moved to the city from Arizona in 1985. Life in Music City had not unfolded as he had dreamed, and at the time of his disappearance, Patrick was experiencing homelessness. He had found a semblance of a home within a community known as Tent City, a homeless encampment situated under the overpass of Interstate 24/Interstate 40. There, he had even managed to build a small cabin for himself, a testament to his resilience in the face of hardship. His daughter, who was only two years old when she last saw him, would carry the weight of his absence for decades. Patrick was a man with distinct features that set him apart. Standing between 6 feet and 6 feet 4 inches tall, he had a lean build, brown, collar-length hair, and blue eyes. His face told a story of a life lived, with a nose that had been broken several times and a long vertical scar along the outer edge of his right eye. At the time he went missing, he wore a mustache and was known to sometimes grow a full beard. A tattoo of the cartoon character Yosemite Sam on his forearm was another defining characteristic. Despite these features, and the memories held by those who knew him, years turned into decades without any word or sign of Patrick. The silence surrounding Patrick's disappearance was profound and lasting. For 27 years, his official status as a missing person remained unrecorded. It was his daughter, driven by a need for answers after a lifetime of questions, who formally reported him missing in 2018. Her search for any trace of her father after 1991 had yielded nothing. The circumstances of what happened to Patrick Guild remain unknown, and little information is available about his final days or what led to his disappearance from Tent City. The investigation, taken up by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, is a cold case, a quiet file holding the story of a man who dreamed of writing songs and one day simply ceased to be seen or heard from.
