On a cold winter day in New York, 62-year-old Jeremiah Williamson Giddings vanished from his home in the Rosedale neighborhood of Queens. The date was January 18, 2008. On that particular day, Jeremiah, also known as Jerry, had an appointment at the VA Hospital in Brooklyn. He made the trip to see his doctor and returned to his residence afterward. However, for reasons that remain unclear, he left his home again a short time later and was never seen or heard from again. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as a Black male, standing between 5'5" and 5'7" tall, and weighing around 170 to 175 pounds. He wore brown, plastic-framed bifocal glasses. His attire on that day was a blue sweater, a black jacket, and denim jeans, paired with black sneakers. He also wore a black hat, a plaid scarf, a black belt, a silver metal watch, and a gold wedding band. The days turned into weeks, and then years, with no sign of Jeremiah. His case was registered with the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), and the New York City Police Department's Missing Persons Squad was in charge of the investigation. His family was left with agonizing uncertainty, holding onto hope for any news that might bring him home. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance were perplexing; he had simply gone for a doctor's visit, a routine part of life, come home, and then left again into oblivion. His case was classified as an endangered missing person, but for a long time, there were no significant leads or breakthroughs in the investigation. Sadly, after many years of searching and waiting, it was reported that Jeremiah Giddings had been located, and his case was officially closed. The resolution, however, brought with it the heartbreaking confirmation that he was deceased. While this news provided a definitive answer to his whereabouts, it opened a new chapter of grief for his loved ones. The specific details regarding the circumstances of when and where he was found have not been made widely public. The overview of this case is one of profound loss and lingering questions. A man's visit to his doctor on a winter day ended in a mystery that lasted for years, culminating in the sorrowful discovery that he had passed away.
