Nikhita Jagtiani, a 4-year-old girl from Rego Park, New York, was last seen on October 1, 2013. She was abducted by her non-custodial mother, Anupama Sharma, amidst a custody dispute with her father, Vikram Jagtiani. At the time of the abduction, Nikhita had recently enrolled in a school in Manhattan, but her mother abruptly removed her, citing a family emergency. Sharma then took a leave of absence from her job, terminated her lease, and disappeared with Nikhita.
