Grace Elan Sabots, a 27-year-old woman from Portland, Oregon, was last seen on March 1, 2014, near a campsite on State Route 96 in Siskiyou County, California, close to the Klamath River. A sheriff’s deputy encountered her that day and reported that she seemed to be in good health and did not require assistance. However, the next morning, her light blue 1989 Toyota Corolla was found abandoned near the Skeahan Bar River Access area, about 8 miles east of Interstate 5.
Evidence at the scene suggested that Sabots might have been injured or in danger. Footprints were found leading into the river but not returning, raising concerns that she may have entered the water. Despite extensive searches of the Klamath River and surrounding areas, no further signs of Sabots have been found.
Originally from Oakland, California, Sabots had been living in Portland and ran a house-cleaning business. There are no known suspects in her disappearance, and authorities continue to investigate the case, which remains unsolved. The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Department encourages anyone with information to come forward.
