Clinton John Anthony Sutton was 28 years old when he was last seen in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on November 6, 2014. He had been living with his mother, but after an argument concerning his drinking, he left their home. On the day of his disappearance, his stepfather dropped him and a friend off at a motel on South Nevada Avenue, believed to be either the Sun Springs Motel or the Chateau Motel, which are located very close to one another.
Clinton did not have his wallet or any identification with him at the time. He assured his stepfather that he would call the following day.
Later that same day, Clinton spoke with his mother on the phone. He mentioned that he had made some new acquaintances but also expressed a sense of fear for his safety. His mother noted that he sounded intoxicated and she had difficulty understanding him, so she asked him to call back in the morning. Tragically, that was the last time his family ever heard from him. Clinton is described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He has several distinguishing features, including a star tattoo on his left wrist and a Chinese symbol for 'family' tattooed on his right forearm. He also has a scar on his left foot and is missing half of one foot and two toes from the other due to frostbite. At the time he went missing, he was believed to be wearing a North Carolina jacket, blue jeans, and black Fila sneakers.
In the months following Clinton's disappearance, a few perplexing events occurred. Two months after he was last seen, his mother received a letter for him from the Social Security office, suggesting someone had used his Social Security number to apply for federal benefits. Around the same time, Clinton's sister received a call from the Social Security office because she had been listed as the primary contact on the application. Additionally, in January 2015, an individual using Clinton's name checked into a homeless shelter on Bijou Street in Colorado Springs, though it has not been confirmed if this person was actually Clinton. It was uncharacteristic of him to be out of contact with his mother for such an extended period, and he has not utilized his federal benefits since his disappearance. Due to these circumstances, his case is considered a suspicious missing person investigation.
