Investigators soon discovered a crucial piece of evidence in the case. About an hour after he was seen in Fort Lauderdale, Steven used a credit card at a Valero gas station on North Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach, a 15-mile drive. Surveillance footage from the gas station captured what are believed to be his last known moments at 2:32 a.m. The video showed Steven entering the store and later driving away in his white 2013 Ford Fusion.
