Skylar Peterson Tosic, a 20-year-old from Escondido, California, disappeared on August 30, 2015, under mysterious circumstances. He was last seen near the San Pasqual Valley, after taking an Uber to an area close to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Skylar had returned home earlier that day, dirty and tired, after spending the night at San Pasqual Academy, a boarding school. He later left home without explanation while his mother was momentarily occupied.
Before his disappearance, Skylar sent a cryptic text message to his mother, mentioning that he was with two women who were rich and wanted to take him on a "free vacation." This message, combined with his recent change in behavior—expressing odd religious ideologies and appearing detached—raised concerns among his family. Skylar also left behind his wallet, identification, and money, taking only a blanket, which fueled worries that he might have joined a cult.
Despite extensive searches and investigations, Skylar has not been found. His family continues to search for answers, and his mother, Olivia Tosic, has even started a nonprofit organization to help locate missing persons. Authorities remain concerned about his well-being, as Skylar had been without his necessary medication at the time of his disappearance.
