Jay Shumate, a 60-year-old man from Erie, Kansas, was last seen on January 17, 2016, around 10:00 a.m. He and his mother drove to the area near Richey's Pharmacy in Erie, where he parked their vehicle, got out, and walked away. He was never seen again. Shumate left behind his wallet, eyeglasses, phone, and cigarettes in the truck, which raised immediate concerns about his sudden disappearance.
