On February 21, 2012, 10-year-old Edhem Abuhamda, along with his siblings Jannah and Jehad, was allegedly abducted by their father, Ahmed Abuhamda, from Overland Park, Kansas. The children’s mother reported the abduction after their father failed to return them following a visit. A federal warrant for Ahmed's arrest was issued on April 26, 2012, charging him with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution. Authorities believe that Ahmed may have fled with the children to the Gaza Strip, where he had family ties.
Edhem, who was 5 feet tall and weighed around 96 pounds at the time of his disappearance, spoke both English and Arabic. Despite the issuance of the federal warrant and ongoing efforts by authorities, the whereabouts of Edhem, his siblings, and their father remain unknown.
