Manouchehr "Mike" Nafar, a 25-year-old originally from Iran, was last seen on February 25, 1983, in Wichita, Kansas. That morning, after spending the night at his girlfriend's apartment, he left to return to his own residence in southeast Wichita to change clothes and attend to daily tasks, including searching for a job. However, he never made it back to his home or to any of his scheduled activities, which included attending Wichita State University and a planned soccer game.
Later that night, Nafar’s yellow 1974 Chevrolet van was found abandoned and on fire at a car wash in Augusta, Kansas, a small town about 30 minutes east of Wichita. Inside the van, authorities found a large pool of blood matching Nafar’s blood type, but no trace of Nafar himself. The van's license plate had been removed, and robbery was ruled out since his valuable tools were left untouched. The case remains unsolved, and foul play is suspected.
Efforts to locate Nafar’s family for DNA samples, which could assist in identifying potential remains, have been unsuccessful. Investigators continue to seek information to solve this cold case, with the hope of finding answers regarding Nafar’s fate.Last Seen: Feb 25, 1983
