Luis Osvaldo Diego Garcia, a 24-year-old man from Veracruz, Mexico, went missing on November 23, 1996, in Ontario, California. He had been working at a rice noodle factory, Rama Foods, where undocumented immigrants were employed under difficult conditions. Luis had confronted his employer, Woravit "Kim" Mektrakarn, about unpaid wages and had threatened to report him to labor authorities unless he was paid $5,000.
