At the time, Flores was described as a Hispanic male, standing 6'0" tall and weighing 210 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has distinctive moles on his right cheek, upper lip, and chin.
The disappearance of Francisco Flores is intertwined with the alleged abduction of his two children, three-year-old Tammy and two-year-old Diego. Flores and the children's mother, Griselda Gonzalez, were in the process of a divorce and shared joint custody. Gonzalez has described Flores as having a volatile temper and being abusive. The children were handed over to Flores on October 21, 2007, for a scheduled week-long visit. When Gonzalez was unable to contact him by phone on October 23, she went to his home in Victorville and found it vacant.
Investigators believe Flores planned the abduction for weeks. In the days prior to his disappearance, he refinanced his house, sold his vehicle for over $100,000 in cash, and quit his job at a cable company where he had been a model employee for a decade. On January 18, 2008, a felony warrant for kidnapping was issued for his arrest. Authorities suspect Flores may have traveled to Oregon or Mexico, as he has relatives in Mexico City and holds dual U.S. and Mexican citizenship. It is also believed that he may be receiving assistance from family or friends. The Ontario Police Department is leading the investigation into the disappearance and abduction.
