Abeyta was last seen in Grand Junction, Colorado on May 5, 1998. He worked as a butcher at a Safeway on Patterson Road at the time, but never picked up his last paycheck and has never been heard from again.

Abeyta was last known to be living on the streets. His family did not report him missing until 2004, about six years after he was last seen. Few details are available in his case.
