In the summer of 2015, in the small city of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, 38-year-old John Thomas "JT" Watson was starting a new chapter in his life. Having been released from prison on July 1, 2015, he was focused on rebuilding, staying with family and sometimes at local motels. In early August of that year, he purchased two used cars, a Ford Mustang and a Mitsubishi Mirage, a step towards re-establishing his independence.
