In the spring of 2016, the family of Michael Dewayne Edwards, a 33-year-old aspiring musician known to his friends as 'Luck,' grew increasingly concerned. Michael, who was described by his cousin as a man who loved his family, had uncharacteristically fallen out of contact with them since April 22. Six days after anyone had last heard from him, his brother officially reported him missing to the East Point Police Department on April 28. The lack of communication was out of character for Michael, causing immediate alarm among his relatives who knew him as someone who would not just vanish without a word.

On the day he was last seen, Michael had told his girlfriend he was heading to a private recording studio in Atlanta. After finishing his session, his plans were to return home via public transportation, and he had promised his brother he would call. That call never came. Instead, Michael was seen at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Interstate 20 in Atlanta, where he was actively pursuing his musical ambitions by passing out compact discs of his work. He was last seen wearing a black Adidas jacket with red stripes, black jeans, and black work boots. Distinctive features include tattoos on his right forearm of the word 'OUTLAW', his stomach of 'TUPAC', and his left arm with 'RIP ANT', as well as a scar from a surgery on his left ankle.

As weeks turned into more than a month, Michael's family, alongside the East Point police, took to the streets, passing out flyers and desperately seeking answers in the Mozley Park neighborhood. Their search led them to the Shell gas station off Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, another location where Michael was reportedly seen promoting his music. Police found his home undisturbed, which added to the troubling nature of his disappearance and led them to believe his case was suspicious and that he could have been the victim of a crime. The sudden and complete silence from a man dedicated to his music and connected to his family has left a void and a series of unanswered questions for his loved ones and investigators. The case remains a painful mystery, a story of a man with dreams of a music career whose life took an unknown turn on an April evening.
