William Cierzan, 58, was last seen on January 26, 2017, at his home in Santa Clarita, California. He was spending the day with his nephew, Daniel Cierzan, watching television. After a trip to a nearby convenience store, William spoke to his wife between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m. about their evening plans. When she returned home around 7:00 p.m., she found the house in disarray. A prepared dinner was left out, but William was gone. His car, wallet, and phone were still at the house, and unsettlingly, traces of his blood were found both inside and outside the home.

Surveillance footage from a neighbor’s camera showed a vehicle, resembling Daniel’s, pulling into William’s driveway around 5:00 p.m. and leaving shortly thereafter. Despite being a person of interest early in the investigation, Daniel initially denied knowing what happened to his uncle. In 2020, Daniel was arrested and charged with his uncle's murder. He later admitted to dumping William's body in a remote location after a confrontation. However, William’s remains have never been found.

In 2022, Daniel Cierzan was sentenced to 11 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter as part of a plea deal. The case remains unresolved in terms of the recovery of William’s body, leaving his family still seeking answers.
