In the quiet community of Massillon, Ohio, a mother's disappearance left her family and friends in a state of desperate uncertainty. On the evening of August 20, 2017, 27-year-old Christine Lynn Slinger was last seen leaving her mother's home on Hilton Street northwest around 7:00 p.m.. She was seen getting into a vehicle with her ex-boyfriend, with whom she shared an eight-year-old daughter.. At the time of her disappearance, Christine was described as a white female with brown hair and brown eyes, standing at 5'3" and weighing 120 pounds.. She was reportedly wearing a light blue tank top, blue denim capri pants or jeans, and either pink and black flip-flops or white sneakers.. She also had on rings and acrylic fingernails.. Her family stated that it was completely out of character for her to leave without any warning, especially considering she was a devoted mother to two young children.. The circumstances surrounding Christine's disappearance quickly became alarming. Her ex-boyfriend, the last known person to see her, told investigators that they had argued and he had dropped her off at the Sandy Valley Estates mobile home park in Magnolia, Ohio.. However, Christine was never seen or heard from again.. Two days after her disappearance, the ex-boyfriend, who was scheduled to take a polygraph test regarding her case, was found deceased in his New Philadelphia home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.. He left behind a note that simply said, "Tell my daughter that I love her.". It was later revealed that he had been planning to seek custody of their daughter, as Christine was reportedly dating a registered sex offender.. This tragic turn of events deepened the mystery and heightened the fears of those who knew and loved Christine. In the months and years that followed, the search for Christine continued, fueled by the unwavering hope of her family.. Law enforcement, along with volunteer organizations like Texas EquuSearch, conducted extensive searches in the areas where she was last seen and where her ex-boyfriend's vehicle was located.. Despite these efforts, which included combing through approximately 50-square miles in the Massillon area, no trace of Christine or her belongings has ever been found.. Her phone is also still missing.. Her mother and the police have considered the theory that her ex-boyfriend may have been involved in her disappearance, but a lack of hard evidence has left the case unsolved.. The community has held vigils and maintained a social media presence to keep Christine's story alive, clinging to the hope that one day they will find the answers they have been so desperately seeking.. The case of Christine Slinger remains an open and painful chapter for her loved ones, a testament to the enduring love for a daughter, mother, and friend who vanished without a trace.
