In the vast, quiet landscape of northern Arizona, a story of concern and mystery began to unfold. Shayna Hilary Feinman, a 35-year-old woman who found solace in nature, was living on a 40-acre property situated between Peach Springs and Seligman in Yavapai County. Originally from New York, she had moved to Arizona a couple of years prior, drawn by her love for the outdoors and camping. On the evening of March 9, 2024, Shayna was last seen on the rural property where she was staying with her boyfriend. Reports suggest that after an argument with the property owner, she walked away into the surrounding woods. She was believed to be heading to a friend's house on foot but tragically never arrived. At the time of her disappearance, she was reportedly wearing sweatpants with athletic shorts over them, a hoodie, and green hiking boots. The days that followed her disappearance were filled with a growing sense of dread. About a week after she was last seen, a friend who had been caring for Shayna's dog grew worried when she failed to return for her beloved pet and alerted the authorities. This triggered an investigation by the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office. Investigators discovered Shayna's car still on the property, and inside were her wallet, passport, and camping gear, items one would typically take if planning a journey. Her cell phone was later located on a nearby property, adding another layer of complexity to her case. In the early stages of the investigation, it was reported that the individuals last seen with her, including her boyfriend and the property owner, were not cooperating with law enforcement. This lack of cooperation was particularly troubling, especially after Shayna's sister revealed that Shayna had sent messages and left voicemails for friends, expressing fear for her safety just before she vanished. As months passed with no sign of Shayna, the case took a significant and grim turn. In late August 2024, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office announced a major development, arresting two men in connection with her presumed death. Her 36-year-old boyfriend, Cavett Richards, and the 58-year-old property owner, William DalCerro, were taken into custody. Both men are facing serious charges, including second-degree murder, conspiracy, and concealing a dead body. Despite these arrests and the ongoing legal proceedings, Shayna Feinman's body has not been found. The investigation into her disappearance has transitioned into a homicide case, marked by the distressing fact that her loved ones are still awaiting her return home. The case is a heartbreaking overview of a woman who sought peace in nature, only to disappear under mysterious and frightening circumstances, leading to murder charges against those she lived with, while the search for her remains continues.
