Victor "Jackie" Theel, a six-year-old boy, disappeared on September 5, 1944, after attending his first day of school in Paynesville, Minnesota. Jackie was supposed to return home for lunch, and his mother had sent a note to his teacher requesting that an older sibling pick him up. However, the teacher allowed him to walk home alone after confirming he knew the way. Jackie never made it home, and a massive search was launched when he was reported missing.
