Jimmy Laverne Bushbaum, a 29-year-old man, went missing on September 16, 1965, from San Quentin, California. Bushbaum had been serving a life sentence at San Quentin State Prison following his conviction for murder in 1960. Along with a co-defendant, Arthur G. Jones, he had pleaded guilty to the crime in San Bernardino. However, on the day of his disappearance, Bushbaum escaped from the prison, and authorities have not heard from him since.
Bushbaum’s escape took place while he was wearing dark blue prison-issued clothing, including a denim shirt and pants. After fleeing San Quentin, a vehicle believed to have been stolen by Bushbaum was later found abandoned in Emeryville, California. Despite extensive search efforts, his whereabouts have remained unknown for decades. In 1968, Jones, his co-defendant, was found and killed during an encounter with law enforcement, but Bushbaum has never been located.
Although he was classified as a missing person, Bushbaum’s case also reflects his status as a fugitive. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office currently handles the investigation, and his case remains open after nearly six decades without resolution.Last Seen: Sep 16, 1965
