Julia Shimkus, a 54-year-old resident of Esplen, Pennsylvania, disappeared on December 20, 1972. That afternoon, she left her home on Oregon Street around noon, possibly intending to go Christmas shopping. She was supposed to start her shift as a cook at the Rockwood Lounge in McKees Rocks Plaza later that day but never showed up. Julia did not take any personal belongings with her and was last seen wearing a black trench coat, black shoes, and a green and white scarf.
