John Vincent Faix, a 31-year-old Pan American Airlines pilot, went missing on March 17, 1981, in Miami, Florida. Faix was last seen in the 4000 block of northwest 79th Avenue. At the time, he frequented areas near Miami International Airport, including bars such as Ma Grundy's and Zachery's, which were popular among locals but are now defunct. The day before his disappearance, Faix mentioned to friends that he would be flying to either Trinidad, Venezuela, or Colombia. It is unclear if Faix was planning to pilot the plane himself or travel as a passenger. If he was to pilot, he would have used either an Aero Commander 560E or a Beechcraft B65 Queen Air aircraft.

Faix stood between 6'3" and 6'5", weighing around 180 to 190 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. He also had a mustache at the time of his disappearance. Foul play is suspected in his case, although there has been no conclusive evidence or leads that have emerged over the years. Despite various efforts, Faix has never been found, and his case remains unsolved. The Miami-Dade Police Department continues to investigate this cold case.
