Nadine Joyce Mendonca, a 25-year-old woman from Fall River, Massachusetts, went missing on July 12, 1991. That evening, she was last seen at Jake's Saloon on Pleasant Street, where she spent the night playing pool and darts with friends. Witnesses reported that she left the bar with a man, who was later identified and interviewed by police. He claimed Nadine gave him a ride to his home in New Bedford, and after dropping him off, she drove away.
Despite verifying his alibi, authorities were left without further leads on her whereabouts.
Two weeks later, Nadine's car, a brown 1980 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, was found abandoned in Weld Square, New Bedford. The driver's side window was smashed, and blood was discovered in the trunk. DNA testing confirmed the blood belonged to Nadine, raising concerns that she had met with foul play. However, despite the evidence, her body has never been found, and her case remains unsolved.
In 2018, renewed efforts were made to investigate Nadine's disappearance using advanced DNA technology, but no new breakthroughs have been reported.
