Matthew Jonathan Weaver Jr., a 21-year-old from Simi Valley, California, was last seen on August 10, 2018. On the morning of his disappearance, he was captured on video surveillance driving his silver BMW along the Topanga Tower Motorway, heading toward Rosas Overlook in the Santa Monica Mountains. Around 11:55 a.m., Matthew sent a cryptic text message to a friend, stating that something "crazy" was happening and that he wanted to talk "while I have the chance." This was the
last known communication from him, and he has not been heard from since.
His abandoned car was discovered the next day, near Rosas Overlook. In the months that followed, search efforts revealed additional personal items, including his car keys and a torn t-shirt, near the vehicle. Despite these findings, no further clues about his whereabouts have emerged. Weaver's family continues to believe that foul play may have been involved, especially given reports from hikers who claimed to have heard calls for help around the time of his disappearance.
Weaver had recently moved into his own apartment in Granada Hills and was working in power line maintenance, with aspirations to travel the world. However, friends reported that he had suffered a head injury shortly before his disappearance, which may have affected his behavior.
