Nancy Meither, a 66-year-old woman from Dry Ridge, Kentucky, disappeared on September 28, 2018, while on vacation with her husband in Panama City Beach, Florida. They had been staying at the Sunbird Condominiums, enjoying a final sunset on the beach after a long vacation. At around 10:00 p.m., Nancy's husband, Jerel Meither, returned to their condo, leaving Nancy on the beach. When he woke up later that night and realized she hadn’t returned, he searched for her but only found their beach chair still in place. Nancy, who was last seen in a black and silver swimsuit, has not been heard from since.
Witnesses reported seeing a woman matching her description standing in the water at sunset, up to her neck, holding a cup. Despite extensive search efforts by local authorities, the Coast Guard, and volunteers, no trace of her has been found. There is speculation that Nancy may have drowned, though her family finds this unlikely, citing that she was not prone to swimming alone, particularly late at night. The case remains open and unsolved.
