Christopher Giauque, a 36-year-old man, was last seen on August 9, 2003, in the Spyrock Road area near Laytonville, California. Giauque, a resident of Salmon Creek, was reportedly involved in the cannabis cultivation business and was on probation for related charges. On the day of his disappearance, he went to meet an associate near the Iron Peak lookout to settle a substantial financial transaction.
Several people were allegedly aware of this pending business deal, which may have made Giauque a target for robbery.
His blue Toyota pickup truck was found the next day, August 10, abandoned on the Avenue of the Giants near Elk Creek Road, about 50 miles from Spyrock. There were suspicions that a second vehicle followed him, and after abandoning his truck, the person responsible was picked up by an accomplice. Despite extensive searches and investigations, Giauque's body has never been found, and he was officially declared dead in 2010.
Giauque’s father, Bob Giauque, has been relentless in the search for answers. He has offered a significant reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for his son’s disappearance and possible murder.
