The case of Jessica Vargas Beatriz, a 4-year-old girl who went missing on November 4, 2006, in Sanford, Florida, is classified as a family abduction. Jessica lived with her father, Jesus Vargas, at the time, while her mother, Leticia Beatriz Martinez, had visitation rights. On the evening of her disappearance, Leticia, along with several men, arrived at Jessica's home, where they threatened Jesus and demanded custody of the child.
A violent altercation ensued, resulting in the stabbing of Jesus and three of his friends. Tragically, one of the victims, Jessica’s uncle Osman Rivera-Alvardo, died from his injuries shortly after the incident.
Leticia and her accomplices successfully abducted Jessica, fleeing in a white four-door compact car, which was later found abandoned in central Florida. Authorities quickly issued an arrest warrant for Leticia, who is also wanted for capital murder and home invasion in connection with the fatal altercation. Alongside Leticia, Felix and Wilrobert Lugo, two men involved in the abduction, are also wanted by authorities. Despite extensive efforts, none of the individuals involved have been apprehended, and Jessica’s whereabouts remain unknown.
There are suspicions that Leticia and Jessica may have fled to locations such as New York, California, or Mexico. Due to the violent nature of the abduction, Jessica is considered to be in serious danger. The case remains unsolved despite continued efforts to locate Jessica and the suspects.
