Thalia Otto, a 9-year-old girl from Deltona, Florida, went missing on October 22, 2013, along with her 8-year-old brother, Michael Otto, and their mother, Yessenia Suarez. The family was last seen leaving the home of Yessenia's mother. Thalia’s stepfather, Luis Toledo, was named the prime suspect in their disappearances. The couple had been having marital issues, and the day before they vanished, Toledo had confronted Yessenia about an affair. Despite extensive searches, the bodies of Thalia, her brother, and her mother have never been found.
Investigators discovered physical evidence implicating Toledo in the murders, including blood traces in their home. Toledo eventually confessed to killing Yessenia, but he denied harming the children. In 2017, he was convicted of second-degree murder for Yessenia's death and first-degree murder for the deaths of Thalia and her brother, and sentenced to life in prison. Despite the conviction, the location of the bodies remains unknown.
