Yessenia Suarez, age 28, went missing on October 22, 2013, from Deltona, Florida, along with her two children, Thalia Otto, 9, and Michael Otto, 8. The three were last seen leaving Yessenia’s mother’s home after a tense day in which Yessenia's husband, Luis Toledo, confronted her about an affair at her workplace. Later that evening, Yessenia spoke with her boyfriend on the phone and sounded stressed. This was the last time anyone heard from her.
When police were called for a welfare check the next morning, they discovered blood evidence in the family home. Despite extensive searches, the bodies of Yessenia and her children have never been found. However, physical evidence, including bloodstains from Thalia and Michael, was found on Toledo's possessions and within the home, leading to his arrest. Toledo eventually confessed to killing Yessenia but denied harming the children, instead blaming another individual, which investigators dismissed.
Luis Toledo was convicted in 2017 of the murders of Yessenia and her children and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
