Brittany Hammond, a 30-year-old mother of five from Patriot, Indiana, was last seen on December 12 or 13, 2018. That evening, she left her home, telling her family she was heading to the store and would return shortly. She never came back, and a friend reportedly saw her getting into another vehicle around that time. After she failed to contact her family about Christmas dinner plans, her relatives became increasingly worried and reported her missing.
Since her disappearance, her cell phone has been turned off, and there has been no activity on her social media or bank accounts.
Brittany had been living with her children's grandmother at the time and was dealing with the aftermath of an abusive on-again, off-again relationship with her ex-boyfriend. In a disturbing turn, just a day after she disappeared, her ex-boyfriend posted a picture on Facebook showing Brittany wrapped in duct tape, captioned "R.I.P. Brittany Hammond." Despite this unsettling post, authorities did not follow up on it extensively, leaving her family frustrated with the lack of progress in the investigation.
Numerous searches and over 1,000 hours of investigative work have been conducted by local authorities, but there have been no breakthroughs. Organizations like Texas EquuSearch have also conducted searches in the Florence, Indiana area, but so far, Brittany's whereabouts remain unknown.
