Background and Context
William “Billy” McIntyre, age 51, was a lifelong fisherman based in Cape Neddick and Perkins Cove, Maine. Known far and wide as the “unofficial mayor” of Perkins Cove, he was a gregarious presence in the tight-knit coastal community. Born into a fishing family and raised by his father Sonny, Billy fished everything from lobsters to prized bluefin tuna—often venturing over 100 miles offshore in pursuit of the catch.
