The Discovery in Troy, Ohio
On April 24, 1981, the body of a young woman was found in a ditch along Greenlee Road in Newton Township, near Troy, Ohio. She was discovered by three young men who initially noticed her distinctive buckskin poncho, which led to her being nicknamed "Buckskin Girl." The woman was lying in a fetal position, without shoes or socks, and had no identification on her. An autopsy revealed she had died approximately 48 hours prior from strangulation and blunt force trauma to the head and neck. Despite extensive efforts, her identity remained unknown for decades.
Initial Investigations and Theories
Following the discovery, authorities conducted a thorough investigation. They obtained fingerprints and dental records, but these did not match any known missing persons.
