On November 11, 1985, the serene woods near Robertsdale, Pennsylvania, became the backdrop for a perplexing mystery that remains unsolved to this day. Emerson "Red" Carbaugh, a 64-year-old resident of St. Thomas, Pennsylvania, embarked on a turkey hunting expedition with his brother-in-law, Ralph Issett. What began as a routine hunting trip soon transformed into a baffling case of disappearance that has haunted the community for decades.
The Fateful Hunting Expedition
Carbaugh and Issett ventured into the dense forests off State Route 913, approximately two miles south of Robertsdale. Around 2:00 p.m., the duo decided to separate, each taking a different path through the woods, with plans to reconvene at Carbaugh's truck later that day. As evening descended and darkness enveloped the forest, Issett returned to the predetermined meeting spot, but Carbaugh was nowhere to be found.
