James Wilson Jr., a 78-year-old retired U.S. Marine and Vietnam War veteran, lived a modest life in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Known for his carpentry skills and dedication to service, Wilson had earned a Purple Heart during his military tenure. Despite his commendable past, he faced the daily challenges of dementia, often believing he was still on active duty. His condition led to episodes of wandering, a behavior that concerned his family and neighbors.

The Day James Disappeared

On May 31, 2018, Wilson left his home in the Country Club Road area of Jacksonville and never returned. His disappearance was alarming, prompting immediate action from local authorities.
