The Day John Barnhill Disappeared

On the morning of September 10, 2019, 62-year-old John Jacob Barnhill, affectionately known as "Jay," left his home in Mills, Wyoming, telling his live-in girlfriend he was going out to run errands. He sent several text messages after leaving the house but never returned. His girlfriend reported him missing on September 12, 2019.

Discovery of the Abandoned Truck

On September 14, 2019, Barnhill's truck was found near Sheepherder Hill and Casper Mountain in Natrona County, Wyoming. The vehicle had been driven through brush and parked well off the roadway in a sparsely populated area surrounded by private property and land owned by the Bureau of Land Management.
