On the evening of January 6, 1991, 28-year-old Terry Slaugenhoupt returned to her apartment in Pittsburgh's Highland Park neighborhood after a date. Terry was born on May 19, 1962, and grew up in Aspinwall, Pennsylvania. She attended Fox Chapel Area High School, where she began struggling with alcohol in the tenth grade. Despite multiple attempts at rehabilitation, she continued to battle addiction throughout her life . At the time of her disappearance, Terry was 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighed between 105 and 120 pounds, had long, curly brown hair, hazel eyes, pierced ears, and a scar on her forehead at the hairline .
