The Crash That Sparked a Mystery

On the evening of March 14, 2025, a routine drive turned into a perplexing mystery. At approximately 7:44 p.m., 52-year-old Joseph Gagnon of Colchester, Vermont, was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Route 127, commonly known as the Burlington Beltline. His car veered off the road, crashing through a fence on the east side of the highway. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle abandoned and believed that Gagnon had fled on foot into the nearby wooded area.

Immediate Search Efforts

Responding officers conducted a canvass of the adjacent woods and the Intervale bike path but were unable to locate anyone at the time of the call. Despite immediate search efforts by the Burlington Police Department, including the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, Gagnon was not located.

Family's Concern and Community Involvement

On March 17, concerned family members contacted the Burlington Police Department to report that they had not heard from Gagnon since the crash. The BPD deployed additional resources to conduct another search of the area, but Gagnon remained missing.

Description and Public Appeal

At the time of his disappearance, Gagnon was described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing approximately 140 pounds.
