On February 9, 1991, Geraldo Ramos, a 30-year-old fisherman from Anchorage, Alaska, tragically disappeared near Kodiak Island. While working aboard the 90-foot crab fishing vessel Tanya Rae, Ramos slipped on ice and fell overboard. Despite immediate rescue efforts, he was unable to hold onto a life ring thrown to him and was lost to the frigid waters.
