Karena Hickman, a 49-year-old woman from Modesto, California, lived a life often unseen by many. As a member of the homeless community, she navigated the challenges of daily survival in a society that frequently overlooks its most vulnerable. Her presence was known in certain circles, and she had established routines and places where she was regularly seen. However, her life took a mysterious turn in the summer of 2019, leading to a disappearance that remains unresolved to this day.
On June 14, 2019, a warehouse located on Tully Road in Modesto caught fire and was destroyed. This warehouse was known to be a place where Karena Hickman had been staying. The fire raised immediate concerns about her safety, as it was unclear whether she was inside the building at the time. Investigators searched the site but found no remains, leaving questions about her whereabouts unanswered.
Reports indicate that Karena was last seen on July 5, 2019, when she was reportedly dropped off near Ninth Street and Coldwell Avenue in Modesto. This location is in proximity to the warehouse that had burned down weeks earlier. Some individuals claimed to have seen her a few hours after the fire in the area of Briggsmore Avenue and Prescott Road. However, these sightings could not be verified, and no concrete evidence was found to confirm her presence in those areas.
In the weeks following her disappearance, the Modesto Police Department conducted searches and investigations to locate Karena. Cadaver dogs were brought in to search the warehouse where she was known to camp, but no evidence of her was found. The lack of information and leads has made the investigation challenging, and her case remains open....Read More
