In the summer of 1999, Rainer Klimek, a 36-year-old German national, was staying with a host family in Wailua, on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. Described as a Caucasian male, 6 feet tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown or blond hair and blue eyes, Klimek was enjoying his time in the tropical paradise. However, on either August 15 or 16, he went for a walk and never returned. His sudden disappearance left his host family and local authorities puzzled and concerned.
