A Routine Fishing Trip Turns Into a Mystery

On the morning of January 24, 2013, 27-year-old Thanh Ha and his friend Anthony Nguyen departed from the docks of Venice, Louisiana, for a shark fishing expedition. They set out at approximately 10:30 a.m. in a 25-foot blue and white fiberglass Reno Skiff, equipped with a 255-horsepower Yamaha outboard engine and a blue 20-gallon fuel tank. The boat bore the registration number LA5756CA. The two men were experienced fishermen, and their trip was expected to be routine. However, they never returned, and no communication was received from them after their departure. 

Search Efforts and Investigation

Upon realizing that Ha and Nguyen had not returned, authorities initiated a search operation. The Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office led the investigation, and the U.S. Coast Guard was involved in search efforts. Despite extensive searches of the surrounding waters and coastlines, no trace of the men or their vessel was found.
