A Mother's Desperate Plea
On the night of May 18, 2014, the tranquility of San Antonio's East Side was shattered by a gunshot that would forever alter the lives of those involved. Six-year-old Jennilynn Montana was fatally shot in the face at her home on Aransas Avenue. Her mother, Jennifer DonJuan, was in the front part of the house when she heard the gunshot emanating from a rear bedroom. Rushing to the scene, she found her daughter grievously wounded. In a state of panic, DonJuan banged on doors and windows, screaming for help. In her frantic efforts, she broke a window, cutting her hand, before returning to her daughter's side. The chaotic scene was further intensified as numerous people and children were seen running around the residence, screaming and crying. Officers arriving at the scene had to follow a trail of blood leading to the rear apartment, where they found DonJuan covered in blood, holding the unconscious Jennilynn in her lap. Despite being rushed to University Hospital, Jennilynn was pronounced dead less than 30 minutes later.

This revelation contradicted earlier statements and raised questions about the events leading up to the tragedy. Authorities considered the possibility that Jennilynn either accidentally shot herself or was accidentally shot by her 8-year-old sister, who was also present in the room at the time. ...Read More
